How do we engage culture and help to shape it? This week, on the Paterson Podcast, we explore the need to not just get the answers right, but to ask better questions.
We speak with Gabe Lyons, Founder & President of Q, a learning community and conference that mobilizes communities to Stay Curious and Advance Good.
“People commonly believe government creates culture” says Gabe, “but what we’ve learned over years of study and history is that governments usually don’t create culture, they usually just legislate what the larger culture wants. What really shapes a culture is it’s ideas and imagination, what it views as right and wrong, moral and immoral, good and evil…This happens through our arts, entertainment, through our media, and whatever else shapes the way we think. So really government is downstream from culture, not upstream.”
We change culture when we start to create culture. But how do we do that?
